Welcome to the Outdoor Recreation Party
The Outdoor Recreation Party is committed to less government control.
We believe public land should be accessible for recreational purposes and actively managed, not locked up and neglected.
We support access by aircraft, boat, vehicle, bicycle, horse and on foot.
We support the preservation of environmental values in the context of a scientific and prioritised approach to environmental management.
We aim to counter the political influence of groups that advocate an unscientific approach to environmental issues and which seek to limit public land access to a privileged few.
We view current restrictions on outdoor activities as symptomatic of a larger problem of excessive regulation, bureaucracy and government intrusion.
We support efforts to reduce the size of government in all aspects, through less regulation, greater personal choice and lower taxes.
The party has its roots in the New South Wales 4WD movement. Considerable success was achieved in getting a member elected to the Legislative Council (the NSW Upper House) at the 1999 State Election.
Our interests now include not only 4WD users but also fishers, motorcyclists, motoring enthusiasts, bushwalkers, hunters and shooters, skiers, horse-riders, golfers and rural property owners.
The Outdoor Recreation Party is registered in NSW and affiliated with the federally registered Liberal Democratic Party.
